Hooked On Fishing Club Malta 2nd Leg Doubles 2014 Competition.

This Competition was held on the 9th February 2014 at Manoel Island. Commenced at 07:30 & finished at 11:30. In this Doubles League match we had 42 Anglers competing.

The weather was clear skies & sunny but cold winds. It was calm in the morning but just after the completion began force 4 winds started to pick up & affected the anglers whom the peg areas anglers situated facing Valletta.

We all met up at 06:30 where the pegs where allocated for the teams, anglers started rigging up their tackle & preparing the ground baits eagerly waiting for the start of the competition. At 07:30 sharp the horn sounded & all teams started casting the Rods & ground baiting. All the Anglers were eager to start fishing, as this venue is well known to produce good results. Short after the horn sounded there was immediately a few bites , from bottom fish & some descent Parrot Fish & also a few Moray Eels with the biggest one weighing 880grams.

Due to the time of the year & the strong winds there was not too many fish caught as expected but everyone had caught fish & enjoyed the day.

Winners of the match day where presented with Vouchers from our sponsor ‘Fishin Fever tar Rabat’

The winners of this Competition was team named ‘The Catchers’ with 2 Kilos & 020 grams , Joined in 2 nd place team ‘Sea Hawk’ & team ‘Dolphins’ with the same weight of 1 Kilo & 760 grams. Total fish caught 17 Kilos & 340 grams which is a good result for this time of year & the strong winds.

Wish to emphasize that all the fish caught where all released. The Club practices catch and release in order to ensure sustainability and to avoid overfishing of fish from our waters.
