The 4th match of the Hooked on Fishing Club Malta Fishin Fever Doubles League was held today at the spectacular Valletta Marsamxett, a venue known for its vibrant marine life and breathtaking backdrop.

Weather & Sea Conditions:

Valletta greeted our anglers with calm seas and mild weather, perfect for a competitive fishing session. The early hours were cool with a light breeze from the northwest, and the sea state remained generally calm throughout the match, offering optimal conditions for both float and bottom fishing techniques.

Match Highlights:

The competition kicked off sharply at 06:30, with anglers hopeful for productive sessions. The morning started off slow for some, while others quickly found a steady rhythm, landing a variety of species including:

Bream

Parrot Fish

Boxlip Mullet

Wrasse

Some pegs, faced with slower action, turned to targeting damselfish to keep their tally going.

Anglers employed diverse techniques across the match — from float fishing and bottom fishing to feeder methods — demonstrating the skill and adaptability that defines this league. With overall points determining the standings, every fish counted, and all teams gave their utmost effort.

Results:

In an impressive display of consistency and skill, Adrian Nelson and Peter Celeste once again secured first place, clinching the full 7 points for the third consecutive match. Their haul totaled an outstanding 4.155kg.

2nd Place: Justin Spiteri & Isaac Psaila — 2.115kg

3rd Place: Lawrence Pulis & Brady Sammut — 2.110kg (just 5 grams shy of second place!)

With such tight margins between 2nd and 3rd place, the podium positions remain wide open for the final match, setting the stage for an exciting showdown.
