Hooked On Fishing Club Malta
Fourth leg of the'Xuereb Installations Singles League2016
After we completed the mullet tournament time has come to continue the singles league which offers an interesting challenge each year.
This leg took place on 6th November at Xgħajra. On the day it was very nice weather for this time of year and a substantial amount of fish hooked. As usual anglers met at 6am, although there are a few who are early birds whom came earlier for a little bit of banter prior tho commence for fishing . First thing we start with placing the pegs which these will be drawn up randomly. At about 6:30am all anglers settled to begin prepare things for the competition which include groundbait and the bait used during the competition. At the strike of 7:30am the horn cranked and the competition began where one could see a nice mix of fishing techniques used by the anglers to try to land the more fish possible. There was a nice amount of fish caught which included small mullets (bobbin) , parrot fish and various bottom fish. During the competition anglers were given a traditional maltese ftira. At 11:30am once again the horn cranked signaling the end of the competition and the start of the process of weighing the fish landed by each angler. After this process was completed all anglers met and began sharing the experience of the day. Refreshments were given to us by General Soft Drinks and the raffle’s draw took place which the prize was a reel given to us at a discounted price from TUBERTINI Malta and was won by Maverick Muliett.
Last but not least we had the presentation were in first place came Miguel Grech with 4kg 300g second place to Maverick Muliett with 3kg 360g and third place Luke Bonnici with 2kg 850g. the sections were won by Peter Paul Azzopardi, Adrian Nelson, Rodrick and Carmel Dimech Spiteri. The winners were presented with vouchers sponsored by Fishin Fever Rabat and Angler Centre.
Wish to enphasize that all the fish that was kept in keepnets alive & relesed after the weigh in.
