29/04/18 5th HOFC Tubertini Doubles League final match 2018
On Sunday 29th April it was scheduled for the final match of the HOFC doubles league sponsored by Tubertini . As scheduled thanks to Midi Group the final was held in the Manoel Islands grounds opposite the capital Valletta. It was not an easy match due to big easterly swell kept brushing the shore and created somehow a difficult situation for all the teams which were taking part. A big well done goes to the anglers whom despite the waves opted to the fish the venue and this clearly showed in final results with some noticeable weights. As the league was already won and secured last week by Marlon and Wayne, It was a tight final match for the second and third overall places. And indeed it was with 4 teams finishing the same amount of 18 overall points. It was then turn for the weight to decide the final places. Match was won superbly by Lawrence Pulis and Tubertini boy Sheldon Bouvett with a nice weight of 2.4kgs mostly breams and parrot fish. Second place was won by the Spiteri brothers with Alex securing 2 moray eels in the course which was not enough for them to make it in the final three with over 2kgs of fish. Bravely again Hertian and Godfrey secured a third place on the day with 1.59kgs but still was not enough for them to make it in the final classification. Section win on the day was won by Paul Sammut and John Cardona with 1.27kgs of fish mostly small mullets and topwater fish. Such results meant that Dorian Formosa and Noel Baldacchino kept their placing as runners up in the overall table and Lawrence Pulis together with team mate Sheldon Bouvett moving on for the third overall.
