01/05/18 HOFC Team A clinch the title of Shore Fishing Malta Nationals.

HOFC team A clinch the title of Shore Fishing Malta in Qawra A well-deserved win which meant the third consecutive win in a row for Hooked on Fishing Club team A in the National Federation League. With clear sunny skies and moderate winds from the back it was the perfect venue scheduled for the final match of the National Federation League 2018. Our Hookers started well off the day and were all prepared for the fish bites which were showing some abundancy in early hours of the day. It was mainly breams on paternoster rigs and some parrot fish on some pegs which topped the fish being caught. In section C, Carmelo Quattrocchi fought well head to head with KSFA’s Miguel Grech till the final minutes of the match where Miguel just showed his class netting in a pair of nice sized parrots on pole rod. Section B was won by Denci’s Maverick Muliett but our angler Adrian Nelson settled quite good for a 3 point in his section to enable him forming part of Malta’s team A next year. In section A, our angler Matthew Dimech from Team A settled for a 5 point penalty and lost his chance in winning the title but it was another good year for our Hooker in the final ranking with a nice 6th place overall. Section D was won by our Tubertini boy Marlon Tanti. As a newcomer for the club Marlon achieved good results for both the club in the winning title and also on a personal level as he ended 8th overall in the individual final standings. John Cardona also settled for a safe 3 points in this section, which meant Cardona making it to the final 10th overall in the individual table. Going back to the start of the year it was not looking easy at all to maintain last year success level in this years’ league. With the club hardly presenting two teams for the federation it was not easy at all. But we believed and our coach Peter cleverly selected the members to present the club. The anglers trained discussed shared ideas and this was clearly shown during the clubs’ main doubles league as new anglers started achieving and believing they are no less than well-established ones. Thanks also goes to the efforts put in too by the rest of the team members Noel Baldacchino, Etienne Grech Sillato& Sheldon Bouvett. New methods were discussed, baits were shared and ideas were not kept as secrets and the results came. It is no coincidence that this year we are again champions. We worked hard and we achieved. This will be the second consecutive win for Hooked on Fishing Club as National Shore Fishing champions. Special thanks goes to our coach Peter Paul Azzopardi, our PRO Lawrence Pulis, the committee members who are always prepared with welcoming new ideas that are boosting the club in all aspects of organisation, our financial sponsors ************ and all the club members for continuously supporting our anglers.
